Mehdi Dastgerdi, Deputy for Economic Affairs of the Maku Free Trade Zone Organization, in a meeting with Dr. Rabihavi, Director General for West Asia and Africa at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, underlined the need to expand economic cooperation with West Asian and African markets.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the trade, transit and investment capacities of Maku Free Trade Zone and highlighted the role of economic counsellors in deepening commercial ties and facilitating access to target markets in West Asia and Africa.
The discussion focused on practical measures to boost exports, attract foreign investors and leverage the network of economic counsellors to promote investment opportunities in Maku Free Trade Zone.
In line with strengthening and expanding trade relations between Iran and Turkey, the Director General for West Asia and Africa at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade announced the decision of the Ministry’s International Affairs Department to assign the secretariat of the Turkey Economic Desk to West Azerbaijan Province.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of continued cooperation and closer coordination between Maku Free Trade Zone and the network of Iran’s economic counsellors in target countries.
